The Dancing Forest

Last week's meeting we watched and discussed the film, the Dancing Forest. It discussed a grassroots organization called CIDAP (Centre International de Développement Agro-Pastoral). The film described the formation and growth of Togo-based women and rural development organization. CIDAP has shown that through focusing on women some of the worst effects of globalization on rural Africa can be mitigated. CIDAP also seemed successful in including the broader community by having collective training sessions where the group gathers and learns new agricultural techniques as the work on a plot of land together.
Following the film we had a group discussion about our impressions about the film and how the film could add to our knowledge in our efforts in development.
